What You'll Do:
Health and Safety:
• Lead and coordinate the site's safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Develop and implement lab procedures to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
• Oversee incident reporting and hazard observations to drive continuous improvements.
• Conduct and track safety training on chemical hygiene, electrical safety, and workplace organization (5S).
• Perform routine safety audits and maintain necessary compliance documentation.
• Manage chemical inventory, storage, disposal, and ensure all safety data sheets (SDS) are current.
• Maintain emergency response procedures and oversee safety equipment inspections.
• Track personal protective equipment (PPE) inventory and manage site access for employees and visitors.
• Work with external safety vendors to ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
Facility Management:
• Oversee facility operations, including budgeting, vendor management, and site maintenance.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the property management team.
• Ensure smooth office operations by addressing any emerging issues promptly.
• Handle site procurement, including vendor contracts and purchase order processing.
• Oversee shipping and receiving functions for the facility.
• Manage security and access systems, ensuring a safe and secure environment.
• Lead operational and security committees as needed.
• Coordinate with IT to maintain functional AV, network, and technical systems.
Laboratory Operations:
• Assist with lab setup, organization, and process development.
• Manage lab-related vendors and purchasing procedures.
• Maintain inventory of lab consumables and oversee equipment maintenance.
• Organize procurement processes for lab equipment, from quotes to installation and qualification.
• Ensure timely equipment calibration and maintenance, coordinating vendor support agreements.
• Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and coordinate repairs and upgrades as needed.
• Oversee safety compliance for preventative maintenance and servicing of lab equipment.
What We’re Looking For:
Skills & Experience:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a physical, chemical, or biological lab or machine shop.
• At least 3 years’ experience overseeing facility operations, including budgeting and vendor management.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on, proactive approach.
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office.
• Ability to anticipate challenges and implement proactive solutions.
• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Service-oriented mindset and collaborative approach.
• Passion for building and improving processes and systems.
Education & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA and FDA regulations and compliance standards.
• Training in OSHA laboratory safety procedures and hazardous material handling is preferred.
• Professional EHS certifications (ASP, CSP, CIH, etc.) are a plus.
