Sr. Dealer Development Strategy Manager

North America | Construction Equipment | Full-Time

About the Role

The Sr. Dealer Development Strategy Manager will play a critical role in shaping the long-term direction and structure of the dealer network to support sustained business growth. This individual will lead network expansion initiatives, support dealer optimization projects, evaluate alternative distribution methods, and work closely with Sales to build strategic plans at both the dealer and market levels. Success in this role will depend on strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and the ability to build collaborative relationships across the organization and with external partners.

This position is based in Suwanee, GA, but may consider remote for highly qualified candidates with direct industry experience.

Key Responsibilities

Distribution Strategy

✅ Refine, document, and update the distribution strategy for North America

✅ Develop and gain alignment on an optimized dealer network footprint

Network Expansion

✅ Analyze market potential and identify strategic growth opportunities in open territories

✅ Develop and execute expansion strategies that align with long-term objectives

✅ Conduct dealer prospecting, including candidate evaluation and business plan development

Network Optimization

✅ Implement plans to help current dealers expand their operations and market share

✅ Identify and support dealer exit strategies when performance or leadership requirements are not met

✅ Drive succession planning initiatives to ensure dealer sustainability and stability

Alternative Distribution Models & M&A

✅ Identify and evaluate mergers and acquisitions (M&A) opportunities; lead due diligence, pro forma financial modeling, and ROI analysis to support recommendations

✅ Build and maintain relationships with private equity firms and potential investors

✅ Explore and assess alternative distribution methods to supplement and expand the existing dealer network

Sales & Territory Support

✅ Partner with Sales leadership to define long-term dealer and market-level strategies to drive topline growth

✅ Provide strategic input on territory coverage, resource allocation, and channel priorities

✅ Develop strong, trusted relationships with dealers to guide M&A conversations and transition planning

Requirements

✔ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred)

✔ 10+ years of experience in distribution strategy, dealer network development, corporate strategy, or M&A

✔ Strong understanding of heavy construction equipment, market dynamics, and dealer operations

✔ Demonstrated skills in market analysis, business planning, and growth strategy

✔ Proficient with ROI and pro forma modeling, and financial scenario planning

✔ Excellent verbal and written communication skills for training, negotiations, and relationship-building

✔ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools

✔ Willingness to travel frequently to meet with current and prospective dealers across the U.S.A. and Canada
