Appointment: This regular position has received approval to be full-time through the current fiscal year, ending June 30, 2026. Beginning July 1, 2026, unless other funding is identified, this position will return to part-time, 0.9 FTE with the exact schedule to be determined with your supervisor.

Position Summary:

This position reports to the Associate Director for Public Services and is part of a dedicated team of librarians focused on providing teaching, reference and research services, and collection development. The position combines reference and research consultations; curriculum-embedded information literacy instruction to undergraduate and graduate students; outreach to faculty and students; and participation in team-based projects. The position serves as a liaison librarian to several undergraduate science departments as well as to three graduate programs in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Public Health.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a liaison librarian to faculty and students in assigned subject areas to ensure that their information needs are being met and to promote the library's services and resources, with a particular emphasis on the sciences and related interdisciplinary programs.
  • Foster communication with faculty in assigned departments to ensure library services and collections are aligned with the curriculum.
  • Provide specialized instruction, research consultations, and reference services to assigned departments and programs in the sciences.
  • Identify resources to add to the library's collection in assigned disciplines to support teaching and research needs on campus.
  • Develop and update online subject and course guides in support of research and learning in assigned areas.
  • Maintain sufficient knowledge to provide general reference assistance in a variety of modes and to teach course-integrated information literacy classes in support of the university's shared curriculum.
  • Ensure that all students are aware of and have a sense of agency and belonging with regards to library services, collections, and spaces.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Library/Information Science.
  • At least one year of post-MLS professional librarian experience in a primarily in-person work environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the information resources, information needs, and methods of inquiry in the sciences and related interdisciplinary fields.
  • Experience or education in the use of inclusive pedagogies.
  • Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with all students, faculty, campus staff, library colleagues, and community members with empathy, kindness, patience, and respect, and to meet library patrons where they are in a supportive manner.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact collegially with individuals of different backgrounds.
  • Strong user-service orientation and desire to work with constituents in-person in an academic environment.
  • Ability to respectfully work, communicate, and provide leadership within a diverse campus community.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in one of the sciences or significant coursework in an interdisciplinary field that includes scientific modes of inquiry.
  • Familiarity with working with content management systems such as Springshare.
  • Experience or education in teaching data management concepts and practical skills.

Compensation and Benefits :
The anticipated range for this position is $30.71 - $30.71. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
