We are seeking a Product Owner with a strong background in data engineering and systems analysis to lead the delivery of data-focused products in partnership with our Product Area Leader. This role will be responsible for managing the product backlog, working closely with technical and development teams, and ensuring alignment with business goals in the financial domain. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience from a data or system analyst role and a deep understanding of ETL, data lakes, and data warehouses.

The primary objectives of the Operational Data Platform enhancements are to improve the quality, accuracy, and automation of operational data processes. This includes enhancing model portfolio data representation, automating sub-advised fund balance updates, and refining position closure logic to address phantom assets. These improvements aim to resolve critical data quality issues, accelerate the delivery of high-priority enhancements, and support strategic planning initiatives. By achieving these objectives, Fidelity Investments ensures its operational data platform continues to meet evolving business needs and supports more accurate and timely financial reporting.

The technical product owner will oversee the delivery of enhancements, ensuring alignment with business goals, managing the prioritized backlog, and providing leadership to advance strategic planning and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Product Area Leader to define product vision, roadmap, and strategy.
  • Own and manage the product backlog, including grooming, prioritization, and user story refinement.
  • Translate business requirements into clear, actionable user stories and technical features for engineering teams.
  • Work closely with data engineers, architects, and developers to deliver scalable data solutions (ETL pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses).
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather short-term business analysis requirements and ensure timely delivery.
  • Leverage prior experience as a Data Analyst or System Analyst to bridge the gap between business and technical needs.
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of features and their alignment with architectural standards.
  • Drive agile ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos) and ensure the team delivers high-impact features.
  • Monitor and report on progress, risks, and dependencies related to data products.
  • Maintain strong domain understanding of financial systems and data flows.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Product Owner in data-centric environments.
  • Prior experience as a Data Analyst or System Analyst supporting engineering or data teams.
  • Strong understanding of ETL processes, data warehouses (DW), and data lake architectures.
  • Familiarity with tools and technologies such as Snowflake, Oracle, SQL, AWS, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with cross-functional development teams.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize backlogs, refine user stories, and lead delivery-focused iterations.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in the financial domain or supporting finance-related data products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with financial data (e.g., general ledger, P&L, forecasting, budgeting).
  • Exposure to data governance, lineage, and quality frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and agile tracking tools
