Job Description:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for plumbing design for facilities, with an emphasis on mission critical facilities, including data centers, laboratories and command/control centers. They must have a strong understanding of Revit and must be able to conduct design calculations, design analysis technical narratives, technical specifications, and equipment design and selection for plumbing systems and fire protection systems.

You will be a core member of the Alphatec Mechanical Engineering team. You will work on highly coordinated facilities with an integrated in-house A/MEP/FP design team to achieve your projects goals. Alphatec Engineers develop building systems that solve new performance mandates for various government agencies, solve modernization challenges and help facilitate life cycle value for the end user.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plumbing and Fire Protection design for facilities, with an emphasis on mission critical facilities, including data centers, laboratories and command/control centers
  • Support the Mechanical/Plumbing Engineering department with design development and quality control
  • Strong Revit skills
  • Prepare presentation materials, calculations, construction documents, specifications, design analysis, and completion of projects
  • Familiarity with local and international codes including DC Building Code and IPC
  • Sustainable design including Net-Zero and LEED Online submissions and documentation
  • Prepare cost estimates for fee proposals
  • Equipment selection
  • Interdisciplinary coordination
  • Follow-on procedures; As-Builts, shop drawings, RFI's

Qualifications

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Engineering and/or MSME
  • EIT license required
  • Minimum five years experience in the design of HVAC/Plumbing systems
  • Proficiency in AUTODESK AutoCAD and Revit required
  • CEM, LEED GA or LEED AP BD+C preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills required to undertake multiple projects
  • US citizenship and valid driver's license for government clearance
  • Experience in all project phases (design, CD’s & follow-on) is preferred for institutional & commercial projects
