Job Description

Overview:

The Organizational Development Specialist will ensure the effective training, development, and engagement of all employees and providers of Covenant HealthCare. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Organizational Development, this position will be primarily responsible for supporting the strategies and tactics for employee and leadership development, onboarding new employees, organizational training, and provider coaching. This person demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards of the Mission, Vision, and Values of Covenant HealthCare.

 

Responsibilities:

· Develops, organizes, and deploys training to prepare employees for a successful career at Covenant HealthCare.

· In coordination with HR and Organizational Development and external vendors, direct and/or support all organization-wide training and development activities to ensure they are conducted efficiently, cost-effectively, and in accordance with the organization's policies and standards.

· Liaises with area leadership to develop and implement training, development, career pathways, and succession plans that are appropriate for their needs and consistent with the overall training strategy.

· Collaborates on organization-wide employee experience improvement and retention initiatives.

· Supports new employee orientation, onboarding processes, and lifecycle activities.

· Leads employee focus groups or task forces and develops action plans for work experience enhancement.

· Delivers online and onsite instructor-led training using a variety of tools.

· Conduct post-training assessments to identify areas of improvement and ensure transfer of knowledge.

· Delivers train-the-trainer programs, including coaching and shadowing to support customer super users in their organizational training strategy.

· Leads  See Me as a Person  program with the opportunity to become a Master Coach.

· Develops and oversees program to invest in and reduce turnover of employees in gateway positions.

· Engages directly with Physicians and Advance Practice Providers (APP) to enhance provider to patient/family communication and support Physician and APP engagement.

· Develops routine educational learning opportunities through the internal LMS.

· Stays current on developments and innovations in training and education in the industry sector so the organizations training activities remain relevant.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, human resources, healthcare administration, or another applicable field required.
  • Master’s degree in Organizational Development/Psychology, Education, or other related field highly preferred.
  • Minimum 2-years’ experience in organizational training, coaching, and development of individuals and large groups.
  • Experience working in the healthcare setting preferred.
  • Experience and comfort with public speaking and facilitating large work groups is required.
  • Experience in implementing quality/performance improvement programs in a complex organization.

Ability to develop program and training content for a variety of audiences.

Demonstrated ability to be self-directed.

Demonstrated understanding of effective organizational change processes.

Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with patients, their families and guests, co-workers, managers, hospital administrators, providers, and external consultants.

Ability to assist in the design and delivery of learning and training experiences.

Ability to routinely travel locally and work a non-traditional schedule/outside regular business hours, as necessary.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Provides excellent customer service.

Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to provide prompt service and follow-up.

Sound judgment in handling confidential or sensitive issues and material.

 

The ability to project a positive and energetic image is a must.
