(Specializing in Outsourcing, Mechanical Components, and Material Properties for Bolting Equipment, Hot Tap Tooling, Induction Machines, and Rotating Equipment)

Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, specifying, and launching manufacturing processes and equipment for mechanical components, with a strong emphasis on outsourcing, supplier management, and the properties of materials used in bolting equipment, Hot Tap tooling, induction machines, and rotating equipment.

This role ensures compliance with safety, quality, cost, and material specifications, and supports both continuous improvement and new product introduction initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process & Equipment Development
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for mechanical components, focusing on outsourced and in-house production.
  • Specify, acquire, and launch equipment and tooling (including Hot Tap and induction tooling) to meet production and quality standards.
  • Lead process optimization and equipment layout improvements, especially for assembly and high-voltage test areas.
  • Supplier and Outsourcing Management
  • Collaborate with external suppliers for component sourcing, tooling, and equipment procurement.
  • Initiate and coordinate services and equipment purchases, managing relationships and performance with outsourced vendors.
  • Material and Component Expertise
  • Apply advanced knowledge of material properties relevant to bolting equipment, Hot Tap tooling, and rotating/induction machines 3 .
  • Evaluate and select materials for mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and suitability for high-stress or high-temperature applications 34 .
  • Project Leadership & Documentation
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional engineering projects, including project planning, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Translate engineering design requirements into formal process documentation, including standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) by documenting tooling, work holding, and gauging requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
  • Drive Lean initiatives and continuous improvement projects, such as set-up reduction, workflow optimization, and cost reduction.
  • Lead root cause and corrective action investigations for process and product issues.
  • Utilize industry-standard problem-solving tools (5 Why’s, Fishbone, 8D, FMEA, etc.
  • Technical Support & Training
  • Provide technical support to production teams, troubleshooting issues with mechanical components and equipment.
  • Train operators and technicians on new processes, equipment, and best practices.
  • Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure all processes comply with company and regulatory standards (ISO, API, ASME, ANSI, etc.).
  • Participate in audits and support efforts to achieve and sustain certifications in quality, environment, health & safety.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with proven expertise in mechanical components and material properties.
  • Demonstrated experience in outsourcing, supplier management, and project leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes for bolting equipment, Hot Tap tooling, induction machines, and rotating equipment.
  • Proficient in CAD tools (e.g., SOLIDWORKS), and familiar with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Experience with Lean/Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Desired Skills

  • Advanced understanding of mechanical and material engineering principles related to high-stress, high-temperature, and rotating equipment applications.
  • Experience with machine controls, automation, and new technology integration.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel for supplier visits, equipment commissioning, and troubleshooting as needed.
