Position Summary:

The Laboratory Director is responsible for overseeing all operational, administrative, and technical aspects of the clinical laboratory at Client, including Core Lab, Blood Bank, Phlebotomy, and Point of Care testing. This leadership role ensures compliance with regulatory standards and fosters a culture of excellence in quality, safety, and patient care. The Laboratory Director will also serve as a resource for the leadership team and mentor supervisory staff while driving strategic goals and fiscal performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct daily laboratory operations ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

Provide leadership and supervision to Section Supervisors, Lead Technologists, and Technologists.

Manage departmental budgets, workflow optimization, and strategic planning initiatives.

Ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA, and other regulatory agency standards.

Resolve operational and personnel issues; address complaints and ensure corrective actions.

Oversee quality control, equipment maintenance, staffing schedules, inventory, and policy interpretation.

Facilitate team meetings, staff development, and performance improvement efforts.

Lead or contribute to projects assigned by the Director with timely execution and reporting.

Serve as an administrative liaison between the laboratory and hospital departments.

Maintain readiness for inspections, audits, and accreditation reviews.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related science (physical, chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science).

Minimum of 6 years clinical laboratory experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role.

5+ years of experience in a high-complexity CLIA/CAP-accredited lab environment.

ASCP certification Required

Must meet current CAP requirements for a Laboratory Supervisor.

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred:

Master’s Degree (MBA, MHA, or equivalent).

Experience managing multiple laboratory sections (Core Lab, Blood Bank, Phlebotomy, POCT).

Availability:

The Laboratory Director is not required to be physically present during all testing hours but must be readily available via phone or electronic communication for consultation as needed
