Job Description

Warbird Healthcare Advisors is seeking a dynamic and experienced Interim Emergency Department Director to lead a high-performing team in one of California’s largest and most complex emergency care environments. This is a critical interim leadership role overseeing 500+ FTEs in a 57,000 sq. ft. Emergency Department caring for 300+ patients per day in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting.

As part of a large academic medical center, you will work in a teaching environment that supports the development of providers and staff at all levels. You'll collaborate with senior leadership to drive process improvement, operational efficiency, and exceptional patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for Emergency Department services

• Guide and mentor staff within a multidisciplinary academic and teaching environment

• Lead initiatives focused on quality improvement, patient safety, and experience

• Foster collaboration with executive, clinical, and support service leaders

• Ensure high standards of care, regulatory compliance, and service excellence

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing Required; Master’s Degree preferred
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing experience, including at least two (2) years in a formal leadership or management role within a large, acute care Emergency Department. 
• Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California
• Experience as an ED Director in a California Level I Trauma Center highly preferred
• Strategic thinker with strong adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset
• Skilled in fostering teamwork and leading in complex, dynamic settings
