Job Summary:

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and efficiency of the company’s fleet operations. With a strong mechanical background and a willingness to receive a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) , this role ensures that all vehicles and equipment are properly maintained, compliant with regulations, and operating at peak performance. The Fleet Manager will also manage driver schedules, coordinate repairs, and optimize fleet operations to support business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fleet Maintenance & Repair:
• Oversee maintenance schedules and repair work for all company vehicles.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and coordinate with in-house or external mechanics.
• Ensure compliance with DOT and safety regulations for all fleet vehicles.
• Operations & Logistics Management:
• Develop and implement fleet policies to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Manage vehicle assignments, fuel usage, and operational costs.
• Oversee the procurement of new vehicles and equipment as needed.
• Driver & Safety Management:
• Ensure all drivers meet CDL requirements and adhere to safety policies.
• Conduct routine inspections and audits for compliance with transportation regulations.
• Provide training and guidance to drivers on best practices for vehicle operation and maintenance.
• Regulatory Compliance & Record Keeping:
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance, inspections, and compliance reports.
• Ensure fleet meets environmental and safety standards.
• Stay up to date on changes in transportation laws and implement necessary policy updates.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Automotive Technology, or related field preferred.
• Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in fleet management, diesel mechanics, or vehicle maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of commercial trucks, heavy equipment, and mechanical repairs.
• Licenses & Certifications:
• CDL (Class A or B) required, or willingness to obtain CDL.
• ASE Certification or similar mechanical certification is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, fleet software, and maintenance management.
• Leadership skills to manage drivers and maintenance teams.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments and make quick, informed decisions.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in shop or field environments.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Capable of standing, kneeling, and working with tools for extended periods.

Work Environment:

• Physical Demands: Ability to inspect vehicles, visit maintenance facilities, and occasionally lift or move items related to fleet equipment.
• Work Conditions: Primarily office-based with occasional travel to fleet locations or vendor sites.
