Job Description

Facility Team Member - Maintenance

Primary Responsibilities:

Facilities Team Members are responsible for the HAC 130,000+ square foot aquatics and wellness facilities and the grounds. Team members are entrusted to keep the organization safe, clean, sanitary, well-maintained and improved in such a manner that the programs and mission may always be carried out with excellence. This includes common areas, pools, the building, grounds, mechanical systems and equipment are in the best possible condition so that maximum services are available to all.

Facilities Team Members are team-players, quality driven, detail oriented and passionate about providing exceptional guest experiences through behind the scenes work that may go unrecognized by those we service.

Specific Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on facility systems and equipment as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  • Provide daily maintenance of multiple swimming pools, including testing, chemical adjustments, and preventative maintenance.
  • Document the work performed and communicate with the Facilities Manager and facilities team members.
  • Report routine and emergency repairs to the Facilities Manager.
  • Be on call for emergency situations and perform after-hours duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.

Grounds Maintenance Responsibilities:

  • Moving and transporting materials and equipment.
  • Trimming and edging lawns and garden areas, fertilizing lawns and plants, mulching, and planting, as needed.
  • Removing snow using shovels, snow blowers, and applying salt.

Cleaning and Upkeep:

  • Follow cleaning schedules set by the Facilities Manager.
  • Perform cleaning tasks such as windows, floors, restrooms, and laundry.
  • Use appropriate cleaning products and equipment for disinfecting and sanitizing.
  • Complete cleaning logs and records.
  • Support cleanliness throughout the facility.
  • Re-stock materials such as toilet paper, hand towels, and soap.
  • Put up signs to signal wet floors or other safety situations.

Team Collaboration and Training:

  • Participate in departmental and interdepartmental training programs.
  • Assist in training other staff as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure standards of neatness and cleanliness are maintained.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Supervisors and Safety Team members on a daily basis to ensure safety and cleanliness of all areas.
  • Identify facility needs and assist staff and guests as required.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Inform appropriate authorities of hazardous material problems.
  • Understand and follow guidelines as provided by county and state health department requirements.
  • Show commitment to the core values, goals, and objectives of the Holland Aquatic Center.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform electrical, plumbing, and structural repairs in a commercial/industrial facility.
  • Ability to perform substantial moving and lifting.
  • Mature judgment and reliable, ethical behavior.
  • Ability to work well with others and project a positive attitude, manner, and appearance.
  • Punctuality and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete assignments independently in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work at heights above eight feet and in an aquatic atmosphere.
  • Compliance with HAC safety policies and procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to assist with monitoring vendors on HAC premises for safety reasons.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience in electrical, plumbing, and/or HVAC (training provided for areas of less experience).
  • Ability to operate or be trained to operate lawn equipment, floor scrubber, and scissor lift.

Physical Demands:

  • Repeatedly ascending/descending stairs.
  • Positioning and using a ladder for work over 8 feet high.
  • Repeated lateral movement (mopping, sweeping).
  • Use of routine custodial/maintenance equipment and machinery.
  • Solitary work around potentially hazardous chemicals and venues.
  • Lifting heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.
