Job Description

We are looking for a Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager for a well established production plant in Amherst. The EHS Manager ensures regulatory compliance, drives continuous improvement in EHS performance, and fosters employee engagement in safety initiatives. The position requires frequent site visits, strong cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to lead both strategic initiatives and daily tactical support.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead a safety-first culture through floor presence, employee engagement, and consistent operational standards across all sites.
  • Implement and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training programs—including onboarding, annual refreshers, and compliance topics.
  • Stay ahead of changing regulations (OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA, DEP) and ensure full compliance across all jurisdictions.
  • Conduct regular audits, hazard assessments, and safety observations; follow through with corrective actions and performance tracking.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, run root cause analyses, and ensure corrective measures are applied and sustained.
  • Oversee PPE programs, industrial hygiene, and employee exposure monitoring for chemicals, noise, and heat.
  • Lead emergency response and preparedness efforts, including evacuation drills and environmental incident protocols.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (HR, Engineering, Maintenance, Production), manage EHS KPIs and budgets, and represent the company in external regulatory and industry forums.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related field required. In lieu of a degree, at least 5 years in an EHS leadership role plus required experience below.
  • Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment (plastics or related industry preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing or leading EHS teams across multiple locations.
  • Proven ability to manage EHS programs for more than 50 employees.
  • Knowledge of California safety regulations (Cal/OSHA) is Preferred.


Key Competencies & Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state-specific regulations (NH, PA, NJ, CA).
  • Experience conducting industrial hygiene monitoring and implementing hazard mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time across assigned sites outside of New Hampshire.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to lead large-scale EHS initiatives


Preferred Certifications:

  • OSHA 30-hour or equivalent.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification
  • HAZWOPER Certification
  • CSP, CIH, or CHMM preferred.
