Job Description:

Gesu School is an independent, Catholic school serving Pre-K through 8th grade students from low-to-moderate income households. The majority of our students reside within the six North Philadelphia zip codes surrounding our school. Gesu School seeks an enthusiastic, engaged, mission-driven individual to fill the new role of Director of Enrollment and Financial Aid. This position will be tasked with expanding Gesu’s outreach to prospective families residing in Philadelphia by ensuring maximum visibility for the school. Reporting directly to the Principal, the Director of Enrollment and Financial Aid will work with Gesu’s administration and marketing/communications team to solidify a brand and marketing strategy around recruitment and enrollment. He/she will work with prospective families through the entire enrollment process from inquiry through the financial aid application. The Director of Enrollment and Financial Aid will work with current families to ensure a smooth re-enrollment process to reduce attrition. The Director of Enrollment and Financial Aid will have a public-facing role representing the school in promoting Gesu’s unique educational brand (“The Gesu Difference”) to attract new families and retain current families.

 

Responsibilities - Enrollment:

  • Direct the admissions program, including recruiting applicants, overseeing the application process and systems, and ensuring open communications throughout the entire application process.
  • Represent Gesu School at various community events. It is critical to have an active presence in the community to market Gesu as an educational option for children around the City of Philadelphia. 
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications Team to develop and execute an annual campaign around recruitment and enrollment.
  • Plan and run open house enrollment events at least 3 times per year a Gesu School.
  • Establish a strategic plan to engage current and past families in the admissions process to activate them as ambassadors who recruit prospective students.
  • Guide current families through the annual re-enrollment process.
  • Develop partnerships with community organizations and leaders who can assist with recruiting applicants.
  • Maintain the FACTS database to ensure all applications and data are managed accurately.
  • Present monthly reports on progress of enrollment of new families and re-enrollment of current families to Gesu’s Senior Leadership Team.
  • Support the Principal in developing a strategic plan to engage and support new families.
  • Direct the engagement of first year families including running family orientations and welcome them to our community.

 

Responsibilities – Financial Aid:

  • Works with President and CEO to organize, evaluate, and administer the School’s financial aid program.
  • Actively communicates with applicant families about financial aid application requirements.
  • Evaluates financial aid requests from current and prospective families using data submitted through FACTS and ensures proper documentation is received from applicants to completion of the financial aid application.
  • Plan, implement, and communicate financial aid programs and procedures to current and prospective families.
 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years working in admissions/enrollment/financial aid at a secondary or pre-secondary school.
  • Experience working in admissions databases (FACTS experience a plus)
  • Familiarity with urban education and the Philadelphia area strongly preferred.
  • Marketing experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills a must.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and car.

General:

The Director of Enrollment and Financial Aid is part of Gesu’s administrative team. He/she will be expected to collaborate with the school’s Senior Leadership Team as well as the Marketing and Communications Team to ensure successful delivery of all goals and objectives.

 

The Director of Enrollment and Financial Aid will be expected to participate in Gesu events and be willing to attend community events during the daytime, evenings, and weekends if necessary to help promote the school.
