Job Description

A fast growing and and entrepreneurial real estate development and construction firm is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead their financial operations.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves , implementing systems and controls, and bringing structure and accuracy to a growing business. You’ll lead a small team, collaborate closely with project leaders and ownership, and play a vital role in financial communication with external investors .

Responsibilities include:
- Lead all day-to-day accounting operations , including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and job costing
- Month-end close reconciliations and journal entries
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements to investors and ownership
- Manage and mentor a team of 3
- Establish and improve internal controls, policies, and financial processes to support scalability
- Oversee job costing and collaborate with project managers to ensure accuracy and transparency on project financials
- Manage cash flow forecasting, budget vs. actuals, and project-level reporting
- Work directly with external CPAs on tax planning, compliance, and audit preparation

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience managing and developing small teams
- Strong real estate industry experience
- Experience with job costing and WIP schedules
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on, entrepreneurial environment
